Napa portion of our trip to SF

One of our 4 days was spend in Napa, its pretty easy to go crazy at wineries... Here is our list of ones we went to and had a blast!

Madonna Estate
Wine we loved: Muscat Canelli

Elyse Winery
Wine we loved:
2007 Howell Mountain Zinfandel (Amazing black pepper notes)
Cabernet Sauvignon Port
Beaulieu Vineyard
Wine we loved:
2006 Napa Valley Port
Napa Valley Port Chocolate Sauce (Which we didn't buy, but a great sauce)
Rombauer Estate
2006 Joy Late Harvest Chardonnay

Our lunch was at the Rutherford Grill which is one of those places you would drive by and not stop (cause we usually drive by many gems when we are all wined up). Art had gone here before me and told me that it was a great spot. Loved the decor which reminded me of woodland escape of a Huston's Steakhouse; which this restaurant is part of the parent company. I loved this cool light fixture made of about 20 lights clustered together

So we had split an appetizer and an entree, the smoked salmon plate:

Which was amazing, normally smoking gives fish an almost strong flaver, this salmon was so light and flavorful without the i just bit into a 2x4 wood flavor one would expect. It was served with thinly sliced perfectly sliced toast.

The entree was the halibut fillet with shrimp in a cream sauce, served over a bed of parsley mashed potatoes. Which was really YUMMY!

My Trip to San Fransisco

So some you have seen some the pictures of the places we went to for our short trip to San Fransisco. I was so happy that i had the time off from work to be able to journey out and get into some familiar foodie places and discover some new ones...

Starbelly (in the castro) http://www.starbellysf.com/

Atmosphere is quite cute, the bright, fresh colors and use of wood compliment give the interior that matches their food style. Little touches like communal tables and mismatched silverware and kitchen towels for napkins add to the casual atmosphere. Take a look outside for an alfresco back porch which is heated and covered in cold months.
There were 3 of us, we split a starter of burata with black garlic and olive oil, served with toast... It was amazing, the black garlic gave the burata a wonderful flavor almost like truffle. Three dishes were the fish tacos made with a cornmeal crust and home pickled jalapeƱo... Which were not greasy and had a nice kick due to the pepper and spicy slaw.  The crab Louie salad looked amazing and so did the mushroom and pulled chicken risotto. While the castro is not known particularly for foodie places; this one surely is going in the right direction. I wish i had taken pictures!

Zarzuella
2000 Hyde St
(between Union St & Allen St)
San Francisco, CA 94109
Neighborhoods: Russian Hill, Nob Hill
I have personally been here 3 times now and i love it. Art brought me here on our first trip and i look forward to going back when ever i can. Here are the items we had this last visit:
Snails in parsley aioli served on croutons, my standby favorite dish.
 Roasted veggies pie
Baked goat cheese in red sauce
 Crab cakes with salsa rosa
And the best item on the menu, poached octopus with potatoes and onions topped with paprika. It was AMAZING! Not at all rubbery as you may think, just tender pieces that melted in your mouth!

Waterworks Apothocary + Accessories

So my good friend of mine gave me a set of wonderful towels or chirstmas from waterworks. An i have to say that they are amazing! Though what really got me totally enthused was the few apothecary items that were included. My new favorite is the Lemon Verbena fragrance, it is such a stylish and not overpowering fragrance. I will now have to get some more for our bath.

While i was browsing (as i do on many occasions) i saw this handsome Glacier bath accessory set. While i can't afford it now it is defiantly on my list of items that i will save for! The pieces are made of cast resin, highly polished on the outside and a subtle frost on the inside. Also available in clear.

Starting a new job...

As some of you may know i am starting a new job today. After 3 + years of working for my former employer, Kay Lang + Associates (kaylangassocs.com) i decided that it was time for me to get a new perspective on what i do for a living. I was very fortunate that Kay and her team took a chance in hiring me and teaching me all the new things i know today; and to that i am so thankful for.

I have selected Kirk Nix and Associates (KNAdesign.com) as my new employer. In a time of scarcity i felt very honored to be given this opportunity to be part of an amazing team of designers! So for all my vendors that have been with me; who i hold in the highest regard i thank you so much for all the help, education and friendship you have given to me and i look forward to new business opportunities ahead!

Something new is brewing....

soon it will be all changed!

What will the parents wear?

Just when i could not think how Jessica of Beetle + Bloom could make our already amazing design any better she hit me with these bloom broaches and lapel pin for our parents! I nearly died when i saw this image...

Our Wedding bands!!! Thanks to another Etsy find! Titanium Knights, who i have to say has some really sophisticated designs had this number which we will be sporting together. Its a 4mm titanium band with 2 yellow gold inlay stripes. So yellow and gray, such a nice way to remember our special day! (he he, i couldn't help myself on that rhyme)
